New 3008 revealed. It's electric! Yes, ACTUALLY electric!

After 7 years, the current version of the 3008 has sold in excess of 1.3 million. It’s been a very popular car for Peugeot.

Now, it’s time for a new one! This new 3008 must drive Peugeot’s ambition to be an all-electric car maker by 2030. It’s the very first of Stellantis’ new cars to be built on the so-named STLA platform. It’s predominantly for all-electric cars. Just to be safe, it will somewhat reluctantly accept a traditional petrol or petrol-electric powertrain, because some markets will demand that. And, because we live in uncertain times, it seemed wise to allow a reversion to internal combustion if something happened in the world that we don’t expect.

But electric it is! More cars will follow, but not necessarily Peugeot’s. Future Citroens, Opels, Dodges, Fiats and Alfa Romeos will all use this modular base.

Battery technology is improving every year. This new car will accept a 30 minute charge and drive you up to 700 kilometres, depending on version.

It’s a larger car than before, with a fastback design silhouette. As with the current 3008, the yet-to-be-seen 5008 will be essentially the same car, but longer and with seating for seven.

There is no chrome on the outside. Inside, there is a lot of oo-la-la advanced technology, such as Over The Air updates and beautiful materials.

Australians will see the car up close in late 2024.
