Today’s 2022 French Car Festival was one of the best, and the superb sunny day brought out the visitors aplenty.
Coffee and croissant merchants kept us nourished with all the important food groups. Thanks to the organisers, French And Fantastic Automobile Club of WA, we had Michelin, Shannons Insurance and Perth City Peugeot/Citroen people on hand to talk to also.
Tom and Tona Pitt won the Fashion Parade. God, they know how to strike a pose. And our club had a broad selection of 203, 205, 207, 306, 307, 308, 403, 404, 405, 407, 504 and 508 models to showcase the marque’s history in Australia. Brian Eyre’s club racer and Ray Hudson’s racing skiff, both Peugeot-powered and both laden with history, rounded out the club’s display.
In all, there were 23 Peugeots, and plenty of strangers stopping by for a chat. Our editor even had his very first drive of a 404.

The Renault owners were out in force, too. French and Fantastic has a very strong and enthusiastic cohort of sports Megane drivers. Their cars are always beautifully turned out in the factory’s eye-catching colours.
